In Bristol depressed divorcee Joel sits on a high rise ledge throwing monies from his wealthy ex-wife's two million settlement to the crowd before being rescued by old school friends New Age Charlie and wannabe authoress Tess. They arrange an unsuccessful blind date for him with Nadia, an American oncologist, struck off for performing operations under the influence of drink and drugs but Joel is more shocked to learn that Charlie has cancer and is relying solely on homeopathic remedies. He persuades Tess to abduct Charlie and with help from Nadia, paid out of Charlie's windfall, they take him to a secluded country house to forcibly administer proper medical treatment. Charlie however is unappreciative of their efforts, especially when his wife Kira appears on television, reporting him as missing.
