The Enfield Poltergeist

In 1977, police went to a house in Enfield, London, to a reported burglary - furniture had been moved and there had been loud banging. The two officers could now find no signs of a break-in, but they saw, among other things, a chair slides several meters along the floor by itself. It was just the first of many extraordinary occurrences that culminated in ghostly voices and levitation. To this day, the mysterious activities in the house are difficult to explain.

Then there were unexplained drownings, while survivors told of the feeling of being pulled into the depths or held down by invisible hands.
