Chimps and gorillas strut their stuff in the wild in this bittersweet documentary. Whether their descendants will be able to do so as well is what makes it bittersweet. Included: a thumbnail chronicle of the last 100 years of human intervention with the great apes of Central Africa. In politically stable Tanzania, which has a relatively secure environment, the chimps Jane Goodall has been studying since 1960 have prospered. The nearby gorillas of war-torn and forest-shorn Rwanda aren't so lucky.
