A report surveying successes of Community Development Financial Institutions in financing "unbankable" people and businesses, many of them in inner cities and rural areas. Included: a struggling logger who received backing from Seattle's Cascadia Revolving Fund; a fisherman who received loans from Maine's Coastal Enterprises Inc.; Eddie Ayers, who founded a credit union in Demopolis, Ala., in 1966; and borrowers and lenders at Chicago's South Shore Bank and Philadelphia's Reinvestment Fund.
