Just barely before he is sent to the rehabilitation centre, Ryan breaks his hip in a bicycle accident and learns his severe alcohol poisoning has stunted his ability to heal his wounds. Despite his mother's and grandfather's desperate attempts to assist Ryan in his recovery, only 17 days into rehabilitation, Ryan passes away.
