High school student Ino Sakura comes to Tokyo to fulfill her dream of becoming an idol. She is given a room in the Mouse Dormitory, which is occupied by prodigies past their prime: former child actress Roko Sekino, former musician Hayu Nukui and former fashion designer Nina Maehara. All three are burnt out and are indifferent to Sakura's ambition. When news comes of the Mouse Dormitory being demolished due to school budget costs, Sakura takes on this obstacle in a grand maneuver: she rallies her dormitory of former dropouts into an idol group, Fruit Tart, to raise the money needed to keep their Dormitory going.
