A group of steel-tough homicide detectives hit the streets of the Motor City for casework, in the gritty crime procedural series "Detroit 1-8-7." The main characters include Detective Louis Fitch (Michael Imperioli), an eccentric who left the NYPD after being marked for death; young Latina detective Ariana Sanchez (Natalie Martinez); Detective Damon Washington (Jon Michael Hill), a rookie newly promoted to homicide after achieving impressive clearance results; and Sgt. Jesse Longford (James McDaniel) a veteran Detroit officer. Over the course of the program's run, stories include Fitch and Washington's investigation of an elderly woman's slaying; a case involving the murder of a collegiate football hero; and a hit on an assistant prosecutor. Later in the season, Fitch himself becomes a suspect in the murder of a local philanthropist and must clear his own name, while attempting to re-establish a paternal relationship with his long-estranged son Bobby (Vadim Imperioli). Meanwhile, Longford begins to consider the possibility of retirement.
