"Guardian of the Safety of the World", private citizen-scientist Captain Video, assisted by his teenage helper The Ranger and an army of Video Rangers, preserves the peace in the far-off future, fighting the evil Dr. Pauli of the Astroidal Society and a bunch of other baddies (Nargola, Mook, Kul, Clysmok). The show appeared nightly Mon-Fri, featured many outlandish weapons and techno-gimmicks, and was run on a minuscule prop budget.

The Invisible Planet

Captain Video and Jeff encounter a mysterious planet with a strange inhabitant, Dr. Linkhoff, an eccentric scientist with plans to capture and hold Captain Video with a powerful weapon. Jeff betrays the Rangers, and both Commissioner Carey and Tucker are imprisoned. Startling facts are revealed. The scientist's discussions on food are forgotten as a miniaturization device is turned onto the Captain and the captive Rangers. The scientist's granddaughter Mara appeals to her grandfather to stop using the miniaturization device, but he fears that the Captain will then escape. Meanwhile, a food shortage begins when machinery fails and starvation threatens. Mara is attracted to Jeff while Dr. Linkhoff falls ill. But the Captain acquires the secret formula and begins experimentation. The planet deflects sunward and the Captain reinvigorates the Galaxy to be able to escape with all aboard. A changed Jeff is reunited with his father.
