Punk Rock

For many people, it's become a bigger threat to our way of life than Russian communism or hyperinflation. Brian Trueman hosts a studio discussion on the rise of punk culture among Britain's youth. "Brass Tacks" reporter, Eric Robson attends a Vibrators gig in Manchester's Electric Circus, where he meets punks like Denise Lloyd, Paul Doyle, Pete Shelley, Ian Hodge, Steve Burke and Linda and Allan Deaves. What is life like for a typical punk rocker? How do they feel about the way they are characterised in the press? In the studio, Lloyd, Shelley, Doyle, Deaves and Hodge defend the punk rock movement, while councillors from around the UK - Bernard Brook-Partridge, Edward Hanson, John Young and Arthur Stabler consider whether punk rock concerts should be banned. Pastor John Cooper is on hand to consider the spiritual ramifications of the punk rock movement, while John Peel and Simon Draper attempt to provide some musical context.
