The drama comes back for a third and final season with plenty of changes. The first episode finds Megan (Dana Delany) finally returning to her job as medical examiner months after the events that occurred at the end of Season 2. She's now dealing with a new detective, Tommy Sullivan (Mark Valley), who has a connection to her past, and her daughter (Mary Mouser) gets kidnapped. In addition, her boss, Kate (Jeri Ryan), runs for office, and Luke Perry returns as Charles Stafford in the "Skin and Bones" episode. The latter half of the season focuses on Megan as she digs deeper into the circumstances of her father's death after finding a box of his belongings.
