Black Books

Bernard Black runs a small bookstore that somehow survives despite Bernard's non-existent customer service skills and ethos. He hires Manny as an employee. Fran runs the shop next door, selling knick-knacks people don't need. Between the three of them many adventures ensue.

Fran returns from a holiday in Cornwall to find that Manny has quit and the book shop is in total disarray. Bernard just sits around sulking. Manny is working next door at Goliath Books. It's quite the step-up from Black Books in terms of professionalism and the manager is a bit of a pain.
