Grab Your Socks

The Pentagon finally wants to come inspect Camp Swampy, and Sgt. Snorkel promises to surprise them. To do this, the platoon heads to bed early per Snorkel's orders, with multiple alarm clocks synchronized and Beetle sleeping closer to Snorkel as a "third ear". As soon as lights out, Snorkel gets super paranoid and keeps jumping up over the smallest noises (Beetle removing his boot, a drip from a pipe hitting his bunk frame, and him hitting his own face after a rogue pillow feather lands on him), and the rest of the platoon has to beg him to stop being so wound up. Unfortunately, after that, they're so tired none of them hear the alarm clocks go off and are still asleep when Gen. Halftrack and the Pentagon General come in. Their failed inspection gets them thrown in the brig, only for Snorkel to finally wake up when the jailer drops his keys.

Mon, Sep 9, 1963

He decides to go on a diet, but the diet is a crash diet ("Rule 1: Don't eat." "Rule 2: Don't eat." "Rule 3: When not eating, don't eat.") that unfortunately affects his dog Otto ("And that goes for your dog, too."). Snorkel goes so crazy, he ends up forbidding anyone he sees from eating as long as he's not eating. This makes Cookie and the rest of the platoon hatch a scheme to make Sarge break his diet, and the best moment is when they realize Sarge and Otto are having the same dream every night; where they both sleepwalk to the mess hall and think they're being fed. The very next night, Cookie cooked up real food and dished it out on their plates, after Sarge and Otto mowed down the food, the rest of the platoon woke them up with a surprise, then use reverse psychology to make sure they got fed as well.
