Another in a seemingly endless parade of reality series, All American Girl was a 13-week competition wherein the titular "girl" was chosen from a field of 15 likely contestants (pared down from 45 who had auditioned). Divided into three teams of five, the girls, ages 18 to 25, were judged on the basis of their beauty, brains, talent, athletic ability, and executive potential by a trio of judges: former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, NBA star John Salley, and TV producer Suzanne de Passe. The bulk of the series showed the contestants being put through their paces in a grueling training camp. Those who survived the ordeal were then offered for the approval of the home viewers, who voted on the winner. "Think Miss America meets American Idol," was TV Guide's succinct summation of the series' premise. All American Girl debuted March 12, 2003.

This reality dance competition series hosted by the E! network's Jason Kennedy pits six dancers against each other every night, each hopeful arriving from a different background and skill level. As the contestants square-off in one-on-one rounds against each other, a studio audience votes for their favorites and losers are eliminated, eventually crowning the winner with a $100,000 prize.
The popular 1980s reality-show precursor traded primarily in eye-opening stunts (a chimp tending bar, a plane landing on a moving truck, jousters on top of cars, a man 'catching' a bullet with his mouth), and the credibility of some segments was occasionally called into question (a May 1982 issue of TV GUIDE revealed that several 'death-defying' acts had been rigged). ABC revived the program in 1988, renaming it 'Incredible Sunday.'
