It premiered a month after Godfrey's equally popular 'Talent Scouts,' making him one of the giants of the 1950s CBS lineup. His popularity began to wane with a barrage of bad publicity that accompanied his firing of various popular regulars, including, in 1953, crooner Julius LaRosa, whom, Godfrey said, had lost his 'humility.'
