Season 3 of the reality series is set in South America: the contestants are sent to Patagonia, Argentina, and spread over a large area that features several lakes and hills. While the weather in Patagonia is similar to that of Vancouver Island, where previous seasons were set, resources and food are more scarce: the contestants can only count on smaller fish or birds, and the hard to catch wild boar; they also have no salt source and no access to debris floating in from the ocean. The cast includes Megan, a professional biologist and forester, Greg, a self-taught survivalist, Zachary, who started acquiring survival skills when he was 5, and Dave, who used to go camping with his family as a child.
