Peter and Mozzie join forces, worrying Neal went missing, no ankle bracelet, and question Rebecca in jail, who tips them off. He was kidnapped by her ambitious associate Jim Booth, who threatens Neal's life for the Hope diamond. Neal works out his aim is to 'audition' the Pink Panthers, the world's best thieves society, but convinces him even better is to rob their leader's office in the super-secure Kellerman building, leaving behind clues for Mozzie and Peter. Overcoming bad luck, he succeeds, Jim is shot dead and Rebecca commits suicide to avoid life in jail. Neal gets Peter to promise a safe contract for his freedom if he brings down the Panthers, pulling off the 'audition'. Peter celebrates Elizabeth's surprise pregnancy.

The Pink Panthers assign Neal and Keller - now an Interpol asset - to copy a data disk from a safe in a security firm's office. Neal seduces and distracts Amy, the assistant to the firm's head, as a chef to let Mozzie intrude the safe, but as the floppy disk is 1970's technology, he must take it home to work out how to read it. Before they can return it to the safe, Amy's boss returns early from a trip and discovers it missing. Neal suggests that Amy confess to taking it to expose the security weakness, asking for a promotion, but she quits her job and New York in disgust, slapping heart-broken Neal. Keller and his Interpol handler Luc give the disk to the Panthers while the FBI are able to interpret it as instructions to route some high-value cargo randomly through US airports.

A figure from Mozzie checkered past comes returns with a request: divorce. Seems they got married when they pulled a con years ago, but now she's found a legitimate love and wants this union to e legal. Mozzie doesn't buy it, and as the bureau looks into potential Pink Panthers action, Peter and Neal check out Mozzie's concerns.

Pink Panthers boss Woodford ignores who the mole is, but believes not Neal since a spy bug was found before he joined. Neal refusing to help rat the mole makes Woodford trust him even more and reveal he plans to steal the cash from the algorithm-chosen airport via a massive armed assault. Finding the spy bug was planted by Luc to spy on Keller, Peter makes Luc pull Keller off. Peter, Mozzie and Neal brainstorm how to steal the cash less dangerously. Peter hits on the pneumatic tubes built decades ago to move mail out of the airport. Luc finds out Neal is hiding something and betrays Peter by leaving Keller on the operation, who kills Luc and puts his own tracking chip on Woodford's deputy, who is shot by Woodford. The FBI and Interpol keep the operation going so Luc's death won't be in vain. Peter misses the appointment with Elizabeth to view the first sonogram of their son. Mozzie begs Neal to be introduced to the Pink Panthers, but Neal rules it's not the right time. The Panthers being one man short, Neal brings Peter to the meeting stating he's ideal. Woodford aims his gun at Peter..
