Season 3 of the sitcom about odd-couple friends Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs), who pool their meager earnings as waitresses to start a cupcake shop, begins with business booming at their new cupcake walk-up window. To become a better chef, Max applies to the Manhattan School of Pastry and is accepted. There, she falls for class clown Deke (Eric André) and the two begin to date. But Max begins to have second thoughts about him when she discovers where he lives and learns he is hiding a shocking secret. Meanwhile, Caroline starts going out with Max's handsome teacher, Nicolas (Gilles Marini), who has a secret of his own that threatens their relationship. Later, the gals agree to make a wedding cake for a bridezilla (Lindsay Lohan) who can't decide on what style of cake she wants, or much of anything else.
