What to Stream the Weekend of August 23

1. 13 Reasons Why

13 Reasons Why is an extremely popular and extremely controversial show. Originally an adaptation of Jay Asher's YA novel about the suicide of a teenage girl, Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), and the 13 tapes she left behind detailing abuse by her peers, the Netflix series has moved well beyond the source material in Season 3. Last season ended with the acquittal of Hannah's rapist, Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice), and in an unexpected twist, Season 3 will be all about who killed him. It's certainly not a binge watch for the whole family, but it is the show everyone will be talking about on Monday morning.

2. Power

Power, Courtney Kemp's New York City crime drama, returns this week after an explosive Season 5 finale. The Starz series will pick up with some major questions that need to be resolved in its sixth and final season: Did Angela (Lela Loren), Ghost's girlfriend, die after his former friend Tommy (Joseph Sikora) shot her? Will Ghost (Omari Hardwick) finally get gunned down trying to avenge Angela if she was murdered? Will Ghost's wife and son turn against him due to his lies? Or will he finally be able to escape the drug game for good and win his family back? Whatever happens, fans know they're in for a wild ride in the final season of Power.

3. On Becoming a God in Central Florida

Kirsten Dunst has never been more compelling than she is in Showtime's On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Dunst plays Krystal Stubbs, a water park employee whose husband (Alexander Skarsgard) gets suckered into a pyramid scheme and then leaves her to deal with the financial fallout. Determined to game the oppressive and sh--ty scam to her advantage, Krystal sets out to become the greatest con artist of them all. This dark comedy is truly a delight.
