Some of these still hurt

It's been a long year and there's no better way to show just how much we've been through in the last 12 months than to look back at everything we lost. Although 2018 had nothing on the emotional gut-punch that was 2016, TV Guide's in memoriam for the TV characters we've lost this year proves it was no joke either.

Whether it's a death that wraps up a series (The Originals), comes as a shocking turn (Fear the Walking Dead), or was one you've been waiting for (This Is Us), it's always hard to say goodbye to your TV faves. It's an emotional experience no matter how you lost them or how prepared you were to see them go. So naturally, as the year comes to a close, you should grab a tissue and relive that pain all over again.

19 Shows We Lost in 2018, from The Originals to Timeless

Some shows went on a killing spree -- hello, The Walking Dead -- while others finally killed off villains that made you angry all season (talking to you, American Horror Story: Apocalypse). There were violent deaths like Lorca (Jason Isaacs) getting stabbed in the heart on Star Trek: Discovery, while others were of natural causes, like Dede (Shelley Long) on Modern Family.

No matter how they went, these characters left an indelible mark on our TV loving hearts. Raise a glass and pour one out for the lost members of our crew.
