It's a sad day for courtroom hijinks. Franklin & Bash has been canceled by TNT after four seasons, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The news comes following the Oct. 22 broadcast of the Season 4 finale, which will now serve as the series finale, too.

8 bubble shows: Which will survive?

The legal dramedy starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved By the Bell) and Breckin Meyer (Clueless) as the titular purveyors of streetwise legal know-how in an uptight corporate law world.

Franklin & Bash's viewership had been tailing off, with an average of only 1.2 million people tuning in for each episode of Season 4. The decision to cancel the lighthearted series comes as TNT shifts toward edgier programming, to compete with top-tier basic cable networks like AMC and FX. The network's most recent moves include canceling Dallas and ordering the action drama Agent X, which stars Sharon Stone and Jeff Hephner.
