TNT canceled its reboot of the hit soap opera Friday, two weeks after the Season 3 finale, which featured the death of a major character, was broadcast, TVLine reports.

"We are extremely proud of [Dallas], which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga," the network said in a statement. "We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series."
The new show featured original stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman (until his death in November 2012). The original Dallas ran for 14 seasons from 1978 to 1991.
