The Walking Dead Mega Buzz: What Does Maggie's Haircut Mean?
Does it mean anything?
Late last year, Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie on The Walking Dead, appeared in public sporting a short new haircut, prompting speculation that something had happened to her character. Maybe, fans worried, she got a haircut because she wasn't on the show anymore.
While I can't confirm anything past Sunday's episode, I can say that in this next episode at least Maggie is alive -- and her haircut is part of the plot. Enid (Katelyn Nacon) does the job, and when she asks the mom-to-be why she's going with a new look, we learn that Maggie's haircut is a symbolic removal of hindrances.
"I have to keep going," Maggie says, "and I don't want anything getting in my way."

If the haircut signifies anything beyond that -- like the severance of her bond with her husband due to his death or foreshadowing that she's about to get a little more off the top -- we'll just have to wait until the finale to find out. (Or maybe not.)
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
