The Good Wife put an end to weeks of speculation with a surprise Super Bowl commercial, announcing that the series finale will air in May.
CBS used its Super Bowl broadcast to break the news that the critically-lauded legal drama will end after its seventh season. Nine more episodes will air.
There had been rumblings of The Good Wife ending since its creators Robert and Michelle King announced they were departing to work on summer series BrainDead for CBS. A few weeks later, Good Wife star Julianna Margulies made a reference to her impending unemployment, seemingly confirming that the show was ending.
"Being a part of The Good Wife has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career," Margulies said in a statement. "As we close the book on our beloved show, I am humbled and grateful to know that together, we created and were a part of something truly remarkable."
The series finale will air Sunday, May 8 at 9/8c on CBS.
