The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King didn't deny rumors that former star Josh Charles will return for the series finale.

"We don't want to squash those rumors, because why would we?" Robert told Variety at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday. "But there are a lot of possibilities for the last episodes."

Over the weekend, TVLine reported that Charles is set to appear in a flashback sequence opposite Julianna Margulies in the show's final episode.

The Good Wife: What to expect in the final episodes

Charles played Will Gardner, a colleague and love interest of Alicia Florrick (Margulies), on the CBS drama until he was shockingly killed off partway through the show's fifth season. In the episode immediately following Will's death, Charles appeared in series of flashbacks, but hasn't guest-starred since.

When CBS first announced The Good Wife was ending, the Kings said they didn't plan on having Charles return. However, they did hint that Will would factor into the show's final episodes.

"The only thing we'd say about the Josh character, Will, is he weighs heavily on the narrative even if we don't have him in person," Robert said.

If Charles does return, let's just hope they skip the green screen this time.

The Good Wife finale airs Sunday, May 8 at 9/8c on CBS.
