TGIT just got a lot hotter: ABC is extending the second season of Station 19, initially just 13 episodes,to be a full season, which means the firefighters will likely be sticking around through the spring. ABC has not yet confirmed just how many episodes that "full season" will be though.

Station 19's sophomore season opened after a skyscraper fire in the freshman finale left a lot of the station's good people in major jeopardy. The second episode then featured a major crossover with Grey's Anatomy, which gave the show its highest ratings so far. It also set up a potential romance between Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan) and Maggie (Kelly McCreary) that could blossom into something more if Jackson (Jesse Williams) doesn't return from his impromptu sabbatical soon. With more links to its parent series, Station 19 is building viewers; the first two episodes the season have averaged almost 8 million viewers and a 1.8/7 rating in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic.

Season 2 also boasts some top-notch new talent. Code Black's Boris Kodjoe has been brought on as a series regular and has taken over as the unrelenting new captain of the station. Meanwhile, Dermot Mulroney is also scheduled to appear later on in the season as Ryan's (Alberto Frezza) dad.

Station 19 airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
