Staris getting one final act, after all. Creator and showrunner Lee Daniels revealed Friday on Instagram that the canceled Fox series will return as a "movie of the week," though he didn't specify where or when it would air.

"The bad news is that Star is not getting picked up for series... But the good news is that we're going a movie of the week to wrap things up for y'all," Daniels said in the video. "We're gonna make something real special for you to scream about with all of our cast members, even the dead ones."

Fox pulled the plug on the Empirespin-off after three seasons back in May, and in the wake of that stunning cancellation, Daniels vowed to find a new home for the series. While he wasn't able to secure another season, fans can take solace in the upcoming movie that will wrap up a ton of loose ends after the shocking Season 3 cliffhanger.

The finale channeled Game of Thrones' head-turning Red Wedding episode when Miss Ruby (Juanita Jennings) was gunned down by the same gang members who later opened fire on unsuspecting guests during Derek (Quincy Brown) and Alex's (Ryan Destiny) wedding reception. While the bride and groom walked away unharmed, others weren't so lucky. Carlotta's (Queen Latifah) sister Cassie (Brandy) was seriously injured after using her body to shield her sibling, Angel (Evan Ross) took several shots to the chest, and Mateo (William Levy) was last seen bleeding out on the floor. The episode ended with Star (Jude Demorest) and Noah (Luke James) realizing their son had been kidnapped.

Star might not be returning in full capacity but Fox has renewed Empire for a sixth and final season. However, Daniels says Jussie Smollett won't be returning.
