Luke Perry's Final Riverdale Scene Was the Epitome of Fred Andrews

Wednesday's episode of Riverdale was bittersweet, as it featured the last scene Luke Perry ever filmed for the CW show before dying from a stroke last month.

As Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced on Twitter this week, Perry's final scene embodied everything we've come to love about his character, Fred Andrews. The scene was just Fred and Archie (KJ Apa) in their kitchen, trying to figure out Archie's latest dilemma. He was in danger of being framed for another murder, and Fred tried his best to counsel his distraught teenager, assuring Archie he will always think the best of his son. Fred's optimism has always been a guiding light for Archie, so it was nice to know that Perry's last scene was one that only bolstered the cornerstone relationship of the series.

Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Tonight shortly after Perry's death that the show will address it in some way, though at the time of the interview the writers hadn't settled on the exact path forward yet.

"You know, honestly, we are I think all still in shock and are all still processing and grieving," he said at the time. "We know that we have to address it in some way, but we're giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honor him."

Riverdale has officially wrapped filming for the season though, so we fans should expect a devastating Fred reveal to come in the upcoming weeks. For now, we get to remember him fondly, and as always, in Archie's corner.
