We already know Angela (Lela Loren) and Ghost (Omari Hardwick) are going to face a pivotal turning point in their relationship in Power's Season 5 finale on Sunday — she's either going to testify against her love or go to the clink. Whatever happens next is going to seal their fate forever, as co-showrunner Gary Lennon told TV Guide, but Angela is hardly the only person on Power trying to claw their way out of a slippery well. Hell, she's not even the only woman potentially about to turn her life upside down for a guy she really shouldn't be supporting.
We're talking about poor Keisha (La La Anthony), of course, who somehow still foolishly believes her drug-dealing boyfriend Tommy (Joseph Sikora) hasn't killed anyone. She's about to find out that her involvement with him has serious costs — dues that walk right up to the line of disaster beginning in the finale. After all, Tommy's perceived betrayal by his father only enhances his existing trust, abandonment and loyalty issues, which do not boyfriend material make. "She is a girl who is very much in over her head," Lennon said. "She's going out with Tommy Egan, there is danger. From the street level and the federal level."
Keisha is very much in over her head. "The question the audience is asking that we're going to answer next season is, 'If you were in love with someone like Tommy what would you do? Would you dive in or would you walk away?'" Lennon said. She'll be facing the ripple effects of lying for Tasha (Naturi Naughton) to investigators in Season 6 too.
Tariq: Last we saw, Tariq was headed back to Choate in Connecticut — or at least, that's what Ghost thought was happening when he dropped Tariq off at the train station. But li'l slick Tariq shook his dad and slipped off into the Manhattan streets. Has Tariq just abandoned school altogether? Not exactly. "He will be back at school," Lennon said.
Tasha: Their romantic life is over, but Tasha won't be walking away from Ghost anytime soon. "When you are married to someone — Ghost and Tasha have so much history together — I don't think the familiar part of that love dies," Lennon said. "Once you love someone and they are either the father or the mother of your children, there is something in your DNA that will never let go completely. There is something still alive and burning in them." Whew. Good luck Tasha, you'll need it.
Dre: "Stuff blows up in the finale," Lennon teased. "He's pissed everybody off you can possibly imagine. He has everybody wanting him dead. The question is: Will he get dead? And if he does get dead, Who will do it?"
The Power Season 5 finale airs Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9/8c on Starz.
