Set in the '40s, the episode will see Goodwin step into the role of D.C. lawyer Genevieve who returns to her hometown in Smokey Mountain to prove her professional grit. She'll find a major challenge in the mysterious Miss Mary Shaw who is referred to the locals as "Old Bones" and is believed to be a fortune teller. After Shaw threatens a lumber company's business, Genevieve finds her skills as a lawyer and faith tested as secrets unravel.
Each hour-long installment of the eight-episode anthology is inspired by one of Dolly Parton's most well-known songs. The legendary country singer will provide an introduction to each episode that explains the meaning behind the song and how it relates to the episode. The series will also see Dancing with the Stars' Julianne Hough lead an episode based on the song "Jolene."
Dolly Parton's Heartstrings is expected to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2019.
