Once Upon a Time: Which Original Characters Are Returning?

Now that we officially know Season 7 will be Once Upon a Time's swan song, it's time to figure out which original characters will be back before the curtain falls on the series finale.

Once Upon a Time showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis confirmed that Jared Gilmore will reprise his role as young Henry in a flashback episode towards the end of the season. "We're very excited to have Jared back," Horowitz says. "He is, in a lot of ways, the heart and soul of this show. He grew up literally on the show, so it's really wonderful to see him back... We think it's a really sweet, emotional mother-son story."

The episode will focus on Regina and young Henry's time in Storybrooke, but just because we're returning to the town where all the characters who departed the show after Season 6 live, don't take it as a guarantee that you'll see them again.

Once Upon a Time Wish List: Everything We Need to See in the Final Episodes

According to Kitsis and Horowitz, though they'd love to have everyone back, they can't confirm whether Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin or Josh Dallas will be available to take part in the show's final episodes.

"Once is home to everyone, so there's an open invitation to every actor who has been on the show to come back in the finale," Kitsis said. "We'll see who's available. But throughout the year, we're going to see some familiar faces as well."

They did reveal that they're expecting to make some announcements about returning characters in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that exciting news!
