Here are the most-rewatched and most-binged Netflix originals of 2018
Netflix collects reams of data on what we watch, and sometimes it deigns to share its scientific method with us, its devoted lab rats. On Tuesday the streaming service released some fun year-end facts about its original movies we watched over and over, stars who got a Netflix bump and shows we binged the f*ck out of.
The most-rewatched Netflix movie of 2018 was The Kissing Booth, followed by To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Roxanne Roxanne. Nearly 50% of people who watched The Kissing Booth or To All the Boys I've Loved Before once then watched it again, which really goes to show how well those movies built worlds people want to live in. Now, this does not necessarily mean more people in total watched The Kissing Booth, just that people rewatched it at a higher rate. In keeping with its tight-lipped tradition, Netflix didn't release any overall viewership numbers for these shows or movies.
The Best Netflix Shows to Binge in a Week
Netflix also trumpeted its success as a star factory, listing the ten people who saw the highest percentage growth in their social followings after appearing in Netflix content in 2018. The list is topped by Queer Eye's Fab Five, who went from total unknowns to some of the most beloved people in America basically overnight. Next up at #2 is To All the Boys I've Loved Before's Lana Condor. Her heartthrob co-star Noah Centineo is down at #7 because he already had a few hundred thousand followers before he blew tf up as a result of the movie (he got a million Instagram followers in one day, which is truly insane).
And finally Netflix listed its ten most-binged shows, which is measured by average watch time per viewing session. On My Block tops the list, which is pretty cool. There's no way the young-adult dramedy is among Netflix's most-watched shows, but the people who watched it got hooked, and that's why it'll be back for a second season (unlike Everything Sucks!, which people bailed on). That also must be why Insatiable, which came in at #9, got renewed. The internet didn't like it, but the people who did like it liked it enough to keep watching.
The lists are below in this cute lil infographic.
