Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows will air on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 9/8c, celebrating Burrows' 1,000th episode of comedy with NBC's Crowded, on which he serves as an executive producer.
Burrows' directorial debut was in 1974, with an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He also directed the pilots for Taxi, Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly. He earned 10 Emmy Awards and four Directors Guild of America awards for his work on Taxi, Cheers and Frasier alone.
Stars who are scheduled to appear on the NBC special include Charlie Sheen - who'll share the screen with Jon Cryer for the first time since the former's exit from Two and a Half Men in 2011 — Jason Bateman, Valerie Bertinelli, Kate Flannery, Will Arnett, and as previously announced, the stars of Friends, minus reunion holdout Matthew Perry, who is doing a play in London and will instead appear in a pre-taped segment. Bob Newhart will also participate in a pre-taped segment.
