We're far from the shallow now

Melissa Villaseñor told us something good during Weekend Update on the latest edition of Saturday Night Live. The cast member, who is known for her impeccable celebrity impressions, unveiled perhaps her best one yet: Lady Gaga singing "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.

Villaseñor appeared on Weekend Update under the guise of providing a preview of Sunday's Grammy Awards (airing on CBS; find out details on how to watch here). But as Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost noted, it was really just an excuse for the cast member to get her Lady Gaga impression on the air in some capacity.

What followed was Villaseñor, dressed like Grammy and Oscar nominee, belting out "Shallow" with only a little help from Kyle Mooney, who appeared in full Jackson Maine cosplay for the song's chorus.

The only downside to the entire bit? As Jost himself noted, it was doubtful Saturday Night Live would be able to secure the rights to "Shallow" without paying a heavy price. Sure enough, the sketch is not the SNL YouTube in an official capacity -- although numerous videos of Villaseñor's impression have gone viral via social media. Check out her performance embedded below.
