Today anchor Matt Lauer sat down with Ryan Seacrest Wednesday morning, and the two addressed the rumors that Seacrest might be in talks to replace Lauer as Today host.

"I'm going to deal with this the way I would deal with anybody I'm interviewing, and I'll ask direct questions," said Lauer. "What kind of conversations have you had with NBC about joining the Today Show?"

"The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! network," Seacrest said. "The first assignment would be to join the prime-time team for the Olympics on NBC."

The E! News anchor remained tight-lipped regarding any further details, but instead joked about the possibility of being Lauer's replacement. "They didn't tell you?!" Seacrest said.
