Report: Ryan Seacrest Nearing Deal with NBCUniversal --- Is Today in His Future?

Ryan Seacrest, whose current gigs include hosting E! News, American Idoland his own radio show, is nearing a new deal with NBCUniversal, The New York Times reports. Exact details about the contract haven't been confirmed, but the deal will likely include frequent Today appearances and a role in NBC's Olympics coverage.

Today executive producer Jim Bell hinted that the big announcement will be made on Tuesday, when Seacrest is set to appear on the morning show. "Tuesday morning live on the TODAY show in Studio 1A, Ryan Seacrest will make a big NBC announcement," he tweeted Sunday.He continued, "Would @RyanSeacrest would have more fun doing the weather for Al or having a cocktail in the 10am with Kathie Lee? What is your drink Ryan?"Reports have been circulating for months that Seacrest might replace Matt Lauer on Today when Lauer's contract expires in January 2013. (Lauer has reportedly been offered a multi-year, $25 million deal to stay.)

Aside from his hosting duties, Seacrest also serves as executive producer of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and its spin-offs for E!. In November, he announced he would be producing his first film alongside Reese Witherspoon.
