As expected, George Eads is leaving MacGyver, and it looks like the goodbye ahead will be an emotional one.

A new promo video for the show's Feb. 1 episode reveals that Jack Dalton's next mission may very well be his last one. In the video, he summons the show's titular hero to say goodbye before he leaves on a new assignment that is ominously called an "open-ended" one. Gulp.

Eads' decision to leave the show was announced in November, shortly after a video of him storming off the Atlanta set began circulating online. Eads was reportedly also interested in leaving the show, despite starring in it since the pilot, so that he could spend more time with his daughter on the west coast.

It's not the first time Eads has made way to the exit sign a little earlier than fans might've expected. He also left CSI after Season 15 and decided not to return for the show's finale special, despite his character Nick Stokes originally being written into the script for it.

MacGyver airs Fridays at 8/7c on CBS.
