In his two seasons on Queer Eye, Karamo Brown has time and again been a bright light in people's lives at just the right time, helping guys regain some confidence, parents love their kids a little harder and a police officer see an African-American man from a place of mutual understanding and trust.

We can't all have Karamo show up to spruce up our minds and hearts, but we can have the next best thing: some really good, universally applicable advice on how to survive the holidays when you're broke. Whether it was during those ramen-filled nights in college, or, heck, those months when adulting led expenses to pile up like a snow-covered highway, being broke is a near-universal experience -- and especially during the holidays.

But as Karamo astutely notes in this video, being low on funds isn't the only way to be "broke," and that's never more apparent than the period after Thanksgiving into the New Year, when family gatherings are aplenty but the ability to make it through them may not be. Some of us are brokenhearted because things haven't gone as well as we'd hoped or a loved one isn't around this year; others still are coping with broken family dynamics that can make even being in the same room with a relative seem impossible. He may not be there to personally guide you through it but checking out his tips in this video will get you pretty close.

Happy holidays!
