HBO Picks Up Dwayne Johnson Comedy Ballers to Series

HBO has given a series order to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Ballers, TVGuide.com has confirmed.  

The half-hour comedy explores the lives of a group of former and current football players. Johnson plays retired athlete Spencer Strasmore alongside CSI: Miamialum Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Childrens Hospital star Rob Corddry, Troy Garity (Boss), Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole (The Event) and Single Ladies' LeToya Luckett.

HBO orders comedy starring Tim Robbins and Jack Black to series

Johnson will executive-produce alongside Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson (Entourage).

The order comes days after the network also picked up the comedy Brink, starring Tim Robbins and Jack Black.

Ballers will star production later this year.
