What is even happening right now??
Grey's Anatomy's "season of love" is officially bringing Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) a new love interest -- or at least a new bedmate! In the new trailer for Season 15, Meredith can be seen canoodling in bed with none other than DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). Yes, seriously. Andrew, freaking, DeLuca. What even?!
Ever since Riggs (Martin Henderson) left the picture, fans have been wondering whether Meredith would give love another shot. Scott Speedman's guest role last year seemed to indicate that another soulmate could still be out there for Meredith somewhere, but...We just literally never expected that to be DeLuca!
The context of this little peek at their hookup is nowhere to be found, so it's a little soon to be jumping straight to soulmate territory -- it could just be a steamy roll in the sack, as is prone to happen at Grey Sloan Memorial -- but if not, we'll be forced to reckon with this new ship and whether or not we're okay with it. Don't forget that DeLuca's first romantic entanglement on this series was with Maggie (Kelly McCreary), and frankly, hasn't there been enough double-dipping between these sisters? After Maggie's letdown with Riggs, she's perfectly entitled to go off on Meredith for going after another guy she tried and failed with.
Grey's Anatomy: The Season of Love Will Be a Bit of a Curse for Owen and His Love Triangle
Other standouts from the trailer include our first look at newcomers Chris Carmack and Alex Landi! Carmack will play a self-proclaimed Ortho God, while Landi will play the series first ever gay male surgeon.
ABC has also released the synopsis for Season 15's two-hour premiere: "During the first hour of the two-hour season premiere, the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial vie for a new position. Meredith is seemingly distracted and struggles to stay focused, and Maggie finds herself the keeper of a big secret while Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) try to figure out their relationship. Meanwhile, Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex's (Justin Chambers) honeymoon doesn't go exactly as planned. In the second hour, new doctors continue to shake up the hospital in typical Grey Sloan manner. Meredith bonds with a patient while Jackson (Jesse Williams) struggles with the meaning behind recent experiences; and after making a life-changing decision, Jo forms an unexpected alliance."
Sounds like Season 15 is off to a wild start!
Grey's Anatomy's 2-hour premiere airs Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c on ABC.
