With the epic Emmy-winning fantasy-drama about to drop its eighth and final season, we've gone back through the first seven seasons to compare and contrast how the major characters looked when things started in 2011, and how they look now.

These beloved and beguiled characters have been put through the ringer. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) lives and dies, and lives again. The hatchling dragons of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) mature into full-grown flying beasts. And then there's poor Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who starts off with two hands and works his way down to one.
