Katie Holmes previously teased that the Dawson's Creek gang would be getting together and now we know the reason why. The crew reunited to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary in a special cover story for Entertainment Weekly. That's right! Dawson, Pacey, Joey, Jen and others staged an epic reunion and we have the pics to prove it.
"I think we've all sort of seen each other over the years, but not everybody all together," Holmes told the magazine. "And never for long enough."
Created by Kevin Williamson — the man who also co-created The Vampire Diaries alongside Julie Plec — the teen drama centered around a group of high school friends living in the fictional small town of Capeside, Massachusetts.
The series premiered January 20, 1998 and ran for six seasons on The WB, which eventually merged with UPN and became The CW. As part of the late '90s teen craze, the show launched its relatively unknown actors into superstardom and is often regarded as one of the greatest teen dramas of all time.
It starred James Van der Beek as Dawson, a sensitive aspiring director; Holmes as Joey, Dawson's best friend, and romantic interest; Joshua Jackson as Pacey, another best friend and Joey's other love interest; and Michelle Williams as Jen, a New York transplant who becomes part of their group. Kerr Smith joined the show in Season 2 as Jack, the smart football player who eventually comes out as gay. In Season 5, Busy Philipps was added to the series as Audrey, the outgoing L.A. girl with a huge personality.
Dawson's Creek broke ground in 2000 when it aired the first male-on-male kiss on network television between Jack and his boyfriend Ethan (Adam Kaufman).
