Chris Brown's hit-and-run case was dismissed Thursday, TMZ.com reports.

The charge stemmed from a May 21 accident, in which Brown refused to give the driver he rear-ended his license number and left the scene without providing proof of insurance. Brown then pleaded not guilty to a charge of hit-and-run and driving without a license, and the latter charge was dismissed.

The driver recently decided she didn't want to press charges and didn't want any money because the damage to her car was so minor. However, the Los Angeles City Attorney pushed for the case to go through because he said that Brown was very aggressive towards the driver after the incident. But the judge decided to dismiss the case.

"The case never should have been filed in the first place," Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, told the site. "It's unfortunate he was being prosecuted for who he is rather than what he's done."

Brown is currently on probation from his assault on Rihanna in 2009, for which he served no jail time.
