Antonio (Jon Seda) put the entire Intelligence crew in a tight spot when he fatally shoved a guy through a window in Chicago P.D.'s shocking midseason finale. When the Dick Wolf drama returns to NBC on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 10/9c, the gang will need to figure their way out of this sticky situation, and TV Guide has your first look at what's in store.

In an exclusive sneak peek that picks up right where we left off, Voight (Jason Beghe) concocts an impressive cover story on the spot that leaves Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) worried about Intelligence's embattled leader.

"You witnessed me and the offender engaged in a physical altercation," Voight advises Ruzek. "Then, you witnessed Rizzo go over the wall."

Wait, what? It looks like Voight wants to take the fall for Antonio, which doesn't sit well with Ruzek. Not so gung-ho about going along with the plan that will likely have dire consequences for the sergeant, he immediately tries to talk Voight out of it. "You're not doing that. You can't take it," he warns Voight. "They will bury you!"

Given Voight's track record, which is spotty at best, Ruzek has every right to be concerned for his boss' future. But Voight makes it clear that the plan isn't up for discussion. And while Ruzek might be going along with it for now, there's still the question of whether or not he'll remain on board after butting heads with Antonio this season.

"You'll see if Ruzek is a guy who holds grudges, if Ruzek is a guy that believes in a code," showrunner Rick Eid previously told TV Guide. "You'll see what Adam Ruzek's all about in this moment."

See how it all goes down when Chicago P.D. returns Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 10/9c on NBC.
