Syfy Closes the (Dream) Door on Channel Zero

The anthology series will end after four seasons

Channel Zero will not return to Syfy, the show's creator announced on Wednesday.

Nick Antosca revealed on Instagram that the network has pulled the plug on his horror anthology series after four seasons, writing, "Channel Zero is no more at SYFY. I loved making this show and I would have loved to do more... but I can't complain too much about doing 4 stories I loved with people who I loved working with."

The series, which consisted of six-episode seasons, was based upon various spooky stories from the internet collective called creepypastas and seemed primed to appeal to audiences of American Horror Story, Stranger Things and Black Mirror.

The first season, Candle Cove, came along in 2016 and was based upon a short story by Kris Straub that explored the Mandela Effect with a kid's show only certain people can ever remember watching. The second, The No-End House, stemmed from Brian Russell's story of the same name about a boy who's challenged to make it through all nine rooms of a house that no one else can. The third wasButcher's Block, loosely based upon Kerry Hammond's "Search and Rescue Woods" series about a Search and Rescue Officer for the US Forest Service. Finally, the fourth season concluded around Halloween 2018 was titled The Dream Door, based upon Charlotte Bywater's "Hidden Door" story about a cellar door that, you guessed it, contains all kinds of creepiness.

CHANNEL ZERO: CANCELLATION NEWS After 4 seasons, Channel Zero is no more at SYFY. I loved making this show and I would have loved to do more... but I can't complain too much about doing 4 stories I loved with people who I loved working with: People like our writers, our actors, our extraordinary crew, the artists who contributed, our editors and post team, our composer Jeff Russo, our team at Syfy and UCP. And especially the four awesome directors, Craig Macneill, Steven Piet, Arkasha Stevenson, and Evan Katz. And before all that, the authors of the original creepypasta stories. Kris Straub, Brian Russell, Kerry Hammond, and Charlotte Bywater. I'm deeply grateful for this experience. Especially to everybody who watched and talked about and wrote about the show. There are stories we didn't get to tell and creatures you didn't get to see, but still might. 🍽🐈 Meanwhile, the first 3 seasons are currently on @shudder, and the 4th season will be soon. Enjoy. 🤡💀🖤
