"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the couple told E! News on Tuesday. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."
The news comes just one day after the couple marked their 10th wedding anniversary. Affleck and Garner first met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001 and later co-starred in 2003's Daredevil movie. They married in 2005 in Turks and Caicos in a ceremony officiated by Garner's Alias co-star Victor Garber.
Although the duo has recently shot down reports of marital problems, E! reports that the couple has been living separately for some time. Speculation began all the way back in 2013 when Affleck was criticized for calling his marriage to Garner "work" when he thanked her in his acceptance speech for Argo. "I want to thank my wife...for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It is work, but it's the best kind of work. And there's no one I'd rather work with," he said.
They have three children together: Violet, 9; Seraphina, 6; and Samuel, 3.
