Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

The rock couple split in August 2015 after 19 years together and just a month shy of their 13th wedding anniversary. "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," they said in a joint statement.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert

The country music power couple split after four years of marriage and 10 years together in July 2015. "This is not the future we envisioned," their representatives said on the duo's behalf in a statement. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter." Under the couple's prenuptial agreement, Shelton, 39, will keep their ranch in Oklahoma and Lambert, 31, will keep their home in Nashville as well as the animals she kept on the ranch, including horses, a camel and a llama.

Jewel and Ty Murray

The singer and rodeo star, who have a son, split in July 2014 after six years of marriage and 16 years together. "Oddly the very thing that Ty and I sought in coming together is the very thing we seek in separating. We both value growth," Jewel explained on her blog. "And growth became tragically and undeniably stifled as a couple, and we believe we can find it again in setting each other free. We truly believe we can find greater happiness apart than together, and this is why we are taking the enormous and heartbreaking step of divorce."

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas

Griffith filed for divorce from Banderas in June 2014 after 18 years of marriage. The actress cited irreconcilable differences and sought full physical custody of their daughter Stella, who was 17 at the time.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

The Oscar-winning actress and the lead singer of Coldplay announced their split in March 2014 after 11 years of marriage. In a blog post, they revealed that they had been working for a year, both together and separate, to make things work, but it ultimately fell apart. Married since 2003, they have two children together, Apple and Moses. "We have always conducted our relationship privately," the couple said at the time, "and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."

Diane Lane and Josh Brolin

Lane and Brolin announced their split in February after eight years of marriage. Their marriage was not without issues, though. Four months after their August 2004 nuptials, Brolin was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Lane declined to press charges and chalked it up to a misunderstanding.

Gomez and Bieber became the king and queen of the teen scene when they started dating in early 2011. Though Bieber's fans never warmed up to the actress, the couple appeared perfectly happy until their abrupt split in November 2012.

DeVito and Perlman separated in October 2012 after more than 30 years of marriage. The couple starred on Taxi together and in the 1996 film adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda. They have three adult children.

One of fans' favorite funny couples, Poehler and Arnett split in September 2012 after nine years of marriage. The two shared the screen in several film and TV projects including Poehler's series, Parks and Recreation, Arnett's former sitcom, Arrested Development. They have two young sons.

Heidi Klum and Seal

The first major breakup of 2012, Klum and Seal announced their split in January after nearly seven years of marriage and four kids. The split turned contentious shortly after when the singer accused the model of "fornicating with the help" (her bodyguard) before their marriage was over. He later clarified that he meant that they're still not legally divorced.

Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth

Facinelli filed for divorce from Garth in March 2012 after 11 years of marriage and three daughters. Garth, who met Facinelli on the set of the 1996 TV movie An Unfinished Affair later revealed that it was Facinelli's decision to end the union. "You get the rug pulled from under you," she told People.

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis

After nearly a year of rumors, Depp and Paradis confirmed in June 2012 that they had broken up after 14 years and two kids together. The pair, who never married, met in 1998 while Depp was filming The Ninth Gate.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

Holmes stunned the world -- and apparently Cruise -- when she filed for divorce in June 2012 after five and a half years of marriage. Holmes said her marriage to Cruise was "irretrievably" broken for at least six months before she filed and requested sole custody of their daughter Suri. The divorce was quickly settled and finalized two months later.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver

The couple's May 2011 split wasn't only shocking because they had been married for 25 years, but because the actor-turned-governor admitted to fathering a son with the family's longtime household staff member. In Schwarzenegger's 2012 memoir, he called the affair "the stupidest thing I've ever done."

Kutcher and Moore seemed to defy skeptics who thought their May-December romance would never last, but they split in November 2011 following months of rumors of cheating allegations on his part. And you knew it was serious when they unfollowed each other on Twitter. (Moore later changed her @MrsKutcher Twitter handle to @justdemi.)

The quirky pair announced a trial separation in October 2010 after 11 years of marriage and one daughter. Unlike most exes, Cox and Arquette have remained close and the actress attended every taping of Dancing with the Stars during Arquette's stint. Arquette filed for divorce in June 2012.
