Brandon Routh to Play Superman for First Time in 13 Years in Surprise Arrowverse Crossover Reveal

But wait, have you considered that it's SuperMEN? Because Tyler Hoechlin is playing the Man of Steel too

The Man of Steel is going to be seeing double in this year's Arrowverse crossover.

Deadline reports that The CW has enlisted both Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh to play Superman in the upcoming five-show crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. While Hoechlin has suited up as the Man of Steel on Supergirl, Routh -- known in the Arrowverse as Ray in DC's Legends of Tomorrowand Arrow -- last wore the cape in the 2006 film Superman Returns. In response to the news, Routh tweeted that he was "still pinching himself."

Routh, who will also play Ray in the crossover, and Hoechlin are set to play Superman in different time frames.

Five-episode event Crisis on Infinite Earths, which will bring together Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and newcomer Batwoman, is set to begin on The CW in late 2019 and conclude in early 2020.
