She's back! Arrow's Emily Bett Rickards will reprise her role as Felicity Smoak in the CW drama's series finale, star Stephen Amell announced Friday. Amell broke the news with a tweet, writing, "There'll be a lot of news coming out about final episode over the next few months. I prefer when you hear it from us. Welcome back Emily."
TV Guide has confirmed Rickards' return.
Rickards, who debuted on Arrow in its first season, left as a series regular at the end of Season 7. In the seventh season finale, Felicity and Oliver (Amell) briefly got their happy ending -- including the birth of their daughter, Mia -- only to be interrupted by the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett), who revealed Oliver would sacrifice himself during the upcoming Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths to save the multi-verse. But in the finale's closing flash-forwards to 2049, the Monitor offered to take Felicity "to see him" in a place she couldn't return from, so the door was definitely left open for Felicity to return to the series. Now that it's official, an Olicity reunion certainly seems to be in the cards, at least in some form.
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim also shared the news, retweeting Amell's announcement and adding, "We couldn't be happier or more thrilled. No other way to do our finale. You'll find out about more old friends returning in the coming weeks..."
Even without Rickards on screen, Felicity's influence has been felt in the drama's final season. "She is ever-present in Oliver's mind," Amell previously told TV Guide.
Arrow airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
