American Horror Story fans, prepare to lose your damned minds. The highly-anticipated crossover season of American Horror Story that will blend Season 1's Murder House with Season 3's Coven is coming sooner than fans expected.

Creator Ryan Murphy tweeted out the news himself on Thursday, with a bit of a fake-out in the message before confirming the crossover will happen THIS YEAR. The news answers two huge questions fans have had about the anthology, namely "Is the crossover really happening?" and "What's the theme for Season 8?"

The idea of a crossover first broke in 2016, with Murphy saying it would likely be the theme of Season 9. Apparently, the idea was too good to hold off for another year.

American Horror Story: 14 Characters Who Need to Return for theMurder House/CovenCrossover

Season 1's Murder House starred Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott as new homeowners who discovered their house was haunted, while Season 3 focused on witches and introduced Kathy Bates to the franchise. Though those seasons took place in 2011 and 2013, respectively, Murphy has previously stated that Season 8 would be set in the near future, which would still allow several characters from those seasons to make appearances in the crossover. However, we can't be sure that the previously announced details still apply to this season or the crossover was moved up to Season 8, rendering those details moot.

It was previously revealed that Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Bates, Joan Collins, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd would return for Season 8, but again, we're not sure if that's still the case now that Season 8 is the crossover.

Who do you want to see return?
