It was only a matter of time before one of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.was seriously hurt in the line of duty.

Unfortunately, it was Skye (Chloe Bennet) who nearly dies during a mission to track down a package that is supposed to lead them to Ian Quinn (David Conrad) and, hopefully, the Clairvoyant. Ultimately, Skye and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) are the last men standing to follow the package, but Skye discovers something more terrifying: Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) is still alive! But the package is actually the Cybertek robotics that will turn him into Deathlok. Quinn tries to order Mike to kill Skye, but he has been programmed to kill someone else. Instead, Quinn shoots Skye in the stomach and leaves her to bleed out.

Does Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. need to be super to succeed?

When the S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrives, Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) orders them to put Skye in the hyperbaric chamber that Mike was previously in, hoping it will keep her alive long enough to get her to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. So, what does this mean for Skye's future?

"It's definitely going to seriously change the tone of the show," Bennet told TVGuide.com during our recent visit to the set of S.H.I.E.L.D. But will Skye really die?! "It's a Joss Whedon show," Bennet added as she nervously looked around the bus. "We're literally on the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft and I could get in very big trouble." For the sheer fact that Bennet was on set when we visited, it's more than likely that Skye will survive to go on another mission. Here's hoping her condition will lead to the discovery of whether Skye has powers or not!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC. What do you think will happen to Skye?
